In case you hadn’t heard, there are dinosaurs among us. How very Jurassic World, I know. But if you’re in or from Southern California and have been to the Palm Desert, you may have seen them. Just about thirty miles before Palm Springs is the small town of Cabazon, known mostly for it’s phenomenal outlet mall, the Cabazon Outlets. Right beside it sits (or stands, in this case) the lifesize prehistoric creatures enticing your curiosity, and can easily be seen from the freeway. Of course I had to pull over and shoot.
I’ve actually been to Mr. Rex’s Dinosaur Park before with my children and they loved it! It’s a fun and interactive stroll through prehistoric historyand if you’re a fan of 1. history and 2. dinosaurs then it’s definitely worth the detour the next time you’re headed to the desert. Not to mention, it’s extremely affordable (a definite mom win!). The park also sits beside a diner and an In-N-Out should you or your crew get hungry and, as I mentioned before, it’s next to the Outlets which has a great foodcourt in addition to shopping.
Although this cute and affordable photo-op stop was perfectly set amidst a beautiful desert backdrop it was SO windy! The wind isn’t really a big deal if you’re chasing kiddos through the Dino park, but if you’re trying to snap the perfect pics it’s a battle, lol! My hair was flying, my robe was flying and the space beneath the Dinos was one big wind tunnel, but nevertheless, my amazing photographer was more than up for the challenge of battling a bit of wind to capture some great shots, which she did!
Look details: All of the jewelry I’m wearing is from Kohl’s, which I loooooooove! They’ve always got amazing specials happening and is the absolute best place to stock up on all kinds of jewelry. No, this post isn’t sponsored by Kohl’s, I’m just sharing that I love it and you should, too! The shoes, bodysuit, and gorgeous robe I got from Target and I snagged the robe on major sale for less than ten bucks! You heard me. Ten. Bucks! (Thank you Cartwheel!). Finally, the jeans are Seven for All Mankind.
So, the next time you’re in the Palm Springs desert check out Mr. Rex’s Dino museum for a brief trip back in time. And don’t forget a light jacket. 😉
